Pike provided construction management at risk services for Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Transformation Project, which took place on a 126-acre site.

The project involved the demolition of 31 former manufacturing buildings, the removal of mechanical systems, and penicillin decontamination in approximately 25 buildings. Additional work included asbestos and hazardous materials abatement, as well as piping and services relocation without disrupting any buildings which were maintaining operations. Air born penicillin precautions were utilized throughout the project.

In order to allow these buildings to be demolished, Pike had to take ongoing operations of multiple lab spaces, cold rooms, etc., and completely rebuild them. This enabling phase allowed demolition to then proceed.

Additionally, equipment in the laboratories went through extensive decommissioning processes, recommissioned and re-validated to a level of accuracy.

Overall, the project transforms the site from a traditional industrial facility into a biotechnology development and production campus. The penicillin-free site was transformed into “green space.” This project utilized building information modeling and laser scanning.
