Crandall Public Library

Pike provided construction management services for the renovations and expansion of the Crandall Public Library, a 1930’s Charles Platt building.

The project expanded and renovated the existing library. The building is located on a downtown street, with one full building-side facing a city park.

The new Crandall Public Library features over 26,000 additional SF, a more spacious children’s department, reading areas, better access to the building and better access to the collections, modern technology area, an auditorium-style community room and several smaller meeting rooms and ADA upgrades.

This project received LEED Certification with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). In addition to a heat absorbent roof, recycled and locally sourced materials and highly efficient mechanical systems, the new library boasts a daylight harvesting system. Strategically placed windows and light monitors allow for natural light to fill the building. Lighting then automatically adjusts to supplement only as much as needed.
