Daytona Beach Kennel Club and Poker Room
Pike provided general construction services for the 52,700 SF gaming and entertainment facility.
The project also included an 8,730 SF paddock as well as a new greyhound race track, including lure and rail.
The building was constructed on an existing 38 acre cattle pasture, mostly grassed with minimal trees. The site required extensive cut/fill operations with 60,000 cubic feet of import fill. The main building houses seating for patrons, restaurant and bar facilities, offices, a poker room, and simulcast wagering with capabilities of expansion as required. The second building houses maintenance equipment and also the dog paddock, with offices.
The facility replaced a nearby existing facility, and required moving existing wagering equipment from the existing facility to the new facility within a three-day window, having all equipment operational and tested for the State Wagering Board.
This project was originally registered to receive Silver LEED certification; however, Pike worked with the owner and architect to achieve the additional points required for Gold LEED certification.
