GLOBALFOUNDRIES Technology Development Center

Pike supported GLOBALFOUNDRIES as their Owners Project Managers, directly embedded in their internal SCI (Site, Construction and Infrastructure) Department.

The Technology Development Center (TDC) included the construction of a new 600,000 SF facility. It was an addition to an existing semiconductor manufacturing facility for the purposes of additional manufacturing of computer chip wafers as well as a fully functional research and development center inclusive of office space.  This project required full process disciplines including ultra pure water systems, waste water treatment systems, spec and bulk gases as well as spec and bulk solvent chemicals. The TDC will also be used for testing silicon wafers as they come out of the fab.

As the owners project management team, Pike was responsible for design oversight, quality assurance, contract procurement, project controls, scheduling, change management, construction and commissioning oversight.

The owner repurposed the facility to a fully functioning fab as a third phase to the current manufacturing flow.  This required a $500 million change midstream to the construction adding 100,000 SF of additional cleanroom to the overall wafer output capabilities along with keeping 50,000 sq. ft. of labs along with 30,000 SF of clean space for after product test operations.
